Don't know what to tie on? You might consider this one. It is a great nymph to use to search for fish. This fly was named after Doug Prince for fishing his favorite stream, the Kings River in California. Since then it has been successfully used all over the globe to do what it was made to do, CATCH fish! I always carry a few of these in various sizes. It works great as a top nymph in a dual dropper setup.
The purple prince variant has been known to catch fish especially in the fall. It has become a favorite fall pattern for many anglers.
