Region's New Ambassador - George Sylvestre

George Sylvestre Region's New Ambassador

Meet Region’s newest ambassador George Sylvestre.

George’s Region is New England, though he fishes freshwater streams from Maine to Montana and saltwater from the North Shore of Massachusetts to the Florida Keys.

George, a former US Army Officer, is a flyfishing guide and volunteer leader for Project Healing Waters, an organization dedicated to the physical and emotional rehabilitation of disabled active military service personnel and disabled veterans through fly fishing.

He and his family are establishing Sylvestre Outdoors, an outfitter service based in Boston, MA focused on introducing newcomers to flyfishing and bowhunting.  George teaches fly casting and guides fly fishing clients on the small brook trout streams of Massachusetts.

He has recently written a review of the San Juan rod that will be featured in the upcoming Spring edition of On The Fly magazine.  Along with the rod review, one of his many fly-fishing short stories will be published in that edition with plans for more to come in future editions.  George will be a regular contributor to the Region Fishing blog.
